A VERY WET SUMMER!!by QTV With summer in full swing, and a very cooperating weather in south Florida, the Accomplices have been setting the pace as far as serious deep wreck diving is concern. Between June and early August, I have seen and explored more wrecks below 100' than I had done in all of my previous diving. Every Saturday and/or Sunday, we are out at sea swimming through the inside of another piece of history or pieces of scrap metal, but regardless, running through the adventure of being where very few have the fortune of reaching ...... that's the challenge I have discovered in technical diving!!! It is not necessarily easy, nor can everybody endure the long training hours that entails (nor cheap, I may add) this endeavour. It runs through a slow progression of learning the procedures, the risks, the equipment, the do's and don'ts, the mental and physical conditioning necessary to carry out these type of dives. It is not a matter of walking to the instructor and saying "I want to do technical dives". Many times I felt that I was biting more than I could chew; that I could be happy just diving shallower or could make a short deep dive and hurry back. But as I realized the excitement of being able to remain inside the deep wreck as long as I wanted or needed; to explore to my heart's content the places others only dream about; to see the marine life (yeah, read what happened in the Tortugas Wreck window!) so abundant in these sites; then I realized how important all this training was and how much confidence it builds in you. When you are in an exploratory dive, you need the sense of confidence your training has given you to be able to enjoy and FEEL the dive. If you are thinking of the "what if" or worried about your lack of ability to cope with an adverse situation, you shouln't be there. I built my confidence, developed my mental and physical strength, configured the right gear as I consider proper and feel prepared to deal with possible contingencies that could arise in this kind of dives. I thank my instructor for having the patience, enthusiasm, and endurance to put up with me. Possibly, the best advice I could give any diver interested in technical diving is ...... select your instructor carefully!! I consider this to be the MOST IMPORTANT factor in my advancement as a diver.

| UN VERANO MOJADO!por QTV Con el verano a todo vapor y un tiempo en el sur de la Florida cooperando, los Cómplices están marcando el paso en el buceo profundo de naufragios (pecios). Entre junio y agosto hemos visitado y explorado más naufragios más profundos de 100' (30m) que nunca antes. Todos los sábados y/o domingos, estamos en altamar buceando algun pedazo de historia (o quizás de metal viejo), en la aventura de estar donde muy pocos tienen la fortuna de llegar ........ ese es el verdadero reto del buceo técnico! No es exactamente fácil, ni lo puede hacer todo el mundo (ni es barato). Requiere largas horas de adiestramiento. Conlleva un proceso lento de conocer los procedimientos, y prepararse para sus riesgos, configurar su equipo, saber lo que se puede y lo que NO se puede hacer, y el condicionamiento mental y físico necesario para llevar a cabo este tipo de inmersión. No es cuestión de ir al instructor y decirle "Quiero ser buzo técnico". Muchas veces pensé que estaba mordiendo más de lo que podía tragar, que yo me conformaba buceando en aguas poco profundas o por corto tiempo a mayor profundidad. Pero cuando siento la excitación de quedarme el tiempo que yo quiera dentro de un barco hundido hasta que me canse de explorar lugares que otros buzos solamente sueñan con estar; de disfrutar su vida marina (vean lo que me pasó en la ventana del "Tortugas Wreck") que abunda en estos lugares; me doy cuenta de lo importante que es ese adiestramiento y toda la confianza que desarrolla en el buzo. Cuando se hace una inmersión exploratoria, se necesita un sentido de confianza en tí mismo que te dá ese adiestramiento para poder disfrutar y SENTIR el buceo. Si estás pensando en el "que pasa sí...", entonces no debes estar ahí . Yo desarrollé mi confianza, estamina física y mental, preparé propiamente la configuración de mi equipo y me siento preparada para enfrentarme a cualquier contingencia que pueda surgir en una de esas inmersiones. Agradezco a mi instructor por su paciencia, entusiasmo y dedicación para tolerarme. De hecho, mi mejor consejo para aquellos que se interesan en buceo técnico es ...... seleccionen su instructor muy cuidadosamente! Considero que este es el factor MÁS IMPORTANTE en el progreso de un buzo.
